Charlotte University City Ghetto: Renting-By-the-Room

More on Renting-by-the-Room

Whatever happened to resourcefulness? Can't one of the student organizations help students find roommates for apartments? Maybe the Niner News can provide FREE space to those who seek a room mate.

Letting the apartment complexes rent single rooms is idiotic and dangerous. If the Charlotte City Council allows this practice to continue, every one of the councilmen should be required to live in one of the apartments for a month.

Where is Charlotte District 4 City Councilman Greg Phipps? Why hasn't he weighed in on this issue? Maybe he doesn't know anything about it. Let's wake him up!

What is Perjury? The Continuing Saga of Kim Church

“We view this as probably one of the most serious offenses an officer could commit,” Baker said. [but not so serious that UNCC Campus Police Officer Kim Church has been dismissed from her job].

“It’s a reflection of her poor choices, not the department,” Baker said.[It's a reflection of the fact that the UNCC Campus Police Department doesn't care if one of its officers lies to a judge while under oath].

"Church’s lying was not considered perjury because it did not pertain to the case," [Chief Baker] said. [It was just a li'l white lie. Everybody tells 'em in court. Coulda been 'bout ennythang. Ain't that right?].

From Black's Law Dictionary:

"...In criminal law. The willful assertion as to a matter of fact, opinion, belief, or knowledge, made by a witness in a judicial proceeding as part of his evidence, either upon oath or in any form allowed by law to be substituted for an oath, whether such evidence is given in open court, or in an affidavit, or otherwise, such assertion being known to such witness to be false, and being intended by him to mislead the court, jury, or person holding the proceeding..."

UNCC Playboy Pinup Chief Forced to Resign in 2010

Another Blast from the Past

UNCC Police Chief Who Appeared in Playboy When She was a College Student Was Forced to Resign

Editorial:

Which is worse? Cheating on a test, smoking pot on campus, lying to a judge, or showing some skin in a men's magazine when one is a student? Are they equally bad?

Chief Baker, do the right thing. Dismiss Officer Kim Church immediately. Be a leader, not another campus toadie. Get tough on crime. Your reputation and the reputation of UNCC is at stake.

Chief Baker, you benefited from Marlene Hall's resignation after it was discovered that she posed in Playboy magazine when she was a student. You became Chief of Police of the UNCC campus. Pass that benefit to the students of UNCC. You can't do much for liars in other departments of the UNCC campus, but you can do something about this liar in your department. It will boost your credibility and the credibility of the campus police within the campus community.

What's good for the goose is good for the gooser. Do the right thing NOW. Dismiss Officer Kim Church . This problem won't go away until you act.

Robbery at 9600 Block of University Blvd

Smoke Shop Robbed by Armed Gunmen

A Reversal of Opinion?

City Could Allow Renting by Room to Students

"...The practice would help reduce crime, police say..."

Editorial:

Consider this: It is illegal for an apartment owner to rent out just one room of an apartment --- for a very good reason. Leasing only to those who present proof of enrollment at UNCC won't stop criminals from moving in. If this proposal were passed, one could merely enroll in classes, present proof of enrollment from the registrar's office to the apartment complex, then quit school before classes begin. (A quick comparison of presumed students who hold campus jobs will be quite an eye-opener and serve as a failed model for this idiotic proposal). Perhaps the city, CMPD, and UNCC administrators need to get their priorities straight: forget the $45m stadium and the Little League football team, and build new dormitories and hire more policemen.

This advice is presented to CMPD, the Charlotte Apartment Association, and UNCC--- FREE OF CHARGE! If UNCC would like our consultation services to help it save $11m per year in more unnecessary costs, just cut a check for $5m and send it along to us.

Citizens Advisory Group Agrees: Leasing by Bedroom Should Be ALLOWED!

"Crime has risen in large part because renting by room isn’t limited to students... Several people on probation rent by bedroom in some of the more concentrated areas of crime..."
