Microaggressions... They're Everywhere, Including UNCC

"...The idea of 'microaggressions' -- small actions or word choices that seem to have no malicious intent but are thought of as a kind of violence nonetheless -- twists the objective idea of being 'offensive' into a subjective charge on behalf of someone claiming to be offended..."

And correcting a test paper with red ink is traumatic. Pfffft

My teacher made reference to "African Americans". That is offensive to me. Does that mean that I am not fully American? Am I a slave? Does this mean that my mother country is in God knows where Africa? I don't hear other people being referred to as Polish Americans or Italian Americans. Should I wait for the Culture and Ethnicity Police to come knocking at my door late at night? This has to stop. I AM OFFENDED!

Now I remember why I avoid talking to blacks.

How about this: I am offended because you are offended. I'm white. Lots of black students get a free ride at UNCC both academically and financially. I've given up a lot so that you and your people can get ahead, and now you are offended because you are recognized as what your own people have wanted to be called for years and years.

Try this one on for size: Americoon. How's that?
